The official trailer for psychological thriller Eileen is here, and basically looks like Carol as done by Hitchcock. That is far from a bad thing.

Based on the 2015 novel by Ottessa Moshfegh, Eileen features Thomasin McKenzie as Eileen Dunlop, a young prison secretary in 1960s Boston. Living a dull, routine existence with her alcoholic father (Shea Whigham), there isn't much in Eileen's life for her to get excited about — until the glamorous new prison psychologist Dr. Rebecca Saint John (Anne Hathaway) arrives.

Eileen quickly strikes up a friendship with the stylish, sophisticated Rebecca, thrilled to have found a companion. However, things soon take a dark turn, pulling Eileen into sinister secrets that will change her life.

Eileen arrives in theatres Dec. 1.
