At last year's Meta Connect, it was revealed that Xbox Cloud Gaming would make its way to Meta Quest headsets sometime in the future. Now, a year later, at the latest installment of the tech giant's keynote event, that "sometime in the future" is now this December.

Meta CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg was sparse on the exact details of when in December this would happen, but did add that the company's newest virtual reality headset, the Meta Quest 3, would have full integration with Microsoft's cloud gaming service. This means players will have access to the hundreds of games available on Xbox Game Pass, which runs for about $16.99 per month.

These games won't be fully VR-compatible, though. Just like what Apple showcased with its mixed reality Vision Pro headset, players can play these games on a floating virtual screen. It's like playing Xbox on your regular TV but now just a bit more immersive and on your face.

Xbox Cloud Gaming has been available for a myriad of devices, so the move to VR is not a surprise. Plus, based on confidential documents that Microsoft accidentally leaked, this move aligns with the company's goals for its cloud gaming service to have as wide a reach as possible.

Again, while there is no exact date for when Xbox Cloud Gaming will be available to Meta Quest users, you can pre-order a Meta Quest 3 right now starting at $499. The headset, which Zuckerberg called "the most powerful Meta Quest yet," will officially launch on Oct. 10.
