Prime Day is one of the best times of year to buy a TV on sale, but not for the reason you're thinking.

During Prime Day, Amazon is the place to find an already-affordable, mid-sized Fire TV for extra cheap — like an invite-only offering to snag the 43-inch version of its 4K Omni Series for just $99.99. But Amazon doesn't always go as hard for premium TV deals from Samsung, LG, and Sony. Luckily, Prime Day provokes competitive sales from Best Buy and Walmart, which pick up the slack on discounts on flagship 65-inch through 85-inch QLED and OLED models. Plus, Prime Day almost always coincides with the Fourth of July sale season, which Samsung is big on.

Regardless of which brand you're loyal to, we're keeping track of all of the TV deals you can shop at all of the big retailers before Prime Day ends at midnight PT on July 12, as well as Prime Day deals in tons of other categories. As of this writing, you have about 11 hours left to shop the best Prime Day TV deals. You might get lucky and score some post-Prime Day savings at Walmart or Best Buy, but don't count on it. If you find the TV you want at a price you can't resist, then pull the trigger.

Note: All newly added deals are marked with a ✨, while deals with a 🔥 have dropped to an all-time low price. Amazon's exclusive invite-only deals are marked with a 📨. Deals with a strikeout were either sold out or expired at the time of writing.

Best Samsung TV deal

Our pick: Samsung 65-inch Q90B QLED TV
$1,599.99 at Samsung (save $1,000)

Why we love it

The big-but-not-too-big size of our favorite TV for sports has been chilling with a $1,000 discount since way before Prime Day and extended Fourth of July sales — but such a premium TV being just over $1,500 is hard to un-favorite. Hyped as one of the brightest TVs on the market, Samsung's QN90B offers the lighting precision, contrast, and glare control needed for crisp daytime viewing.

Best LG TV deal

LG 86-inch 80 Series QNED TV
$1,599.99 at Best Buy (save $400)

Why we love it

QNED is a mashup of LG's NanoCell technology and quantum dots (which amp up color depth using an extra light filter of nanoparticles) and the backlighting of mini LEDs (like regular LEDs, but smaller for extra precision). This XL version of the budget-friendly 80 Series QNED stretches those bright, saturated scenes across what'll feel like the entire wall.

Best Sony TV deal

Why we love it

The 55-inch version of Sony's luxury OLED TV is somehow seeing a bigger discount than the more expensive 65-inch model. Bringing that "O" on board significantly upgrades the TV's picture quality, especially in dimly lit rooms and dark, shadowy scenes. OLED doesn't require an external backlight. Instead, they use organic light-emitting diodes. These self-lit pixels are individually controlled by the TV itself based on the content and lighting of the room, offering more precise contrast than LED or QLED.

Best 4K Fire TV deal

Our pick: Amazon 43-inch Omni 4K Fire TV
$99.99 at Amazon (save $300)🔥📨

Why we love it

You can't not take advantage of Amazon's flagship 4K TV being under $100 — that's an unbelievably rare price for a 43-inch 4K model from any brand. (If you're one of the lucky Prime members who has this invite-only deal unlocked, you should make it work.) The Omni is the smoothest way to experience Amazon's crowd-favorite Fire TV platform and intuitive app navigation. The two larger Omni sizes get particularly good marks for their crisp HDR handling due to their support for Dolby Vision.

Frequently Asked Questions

While there are obviously more budget-friendly LED 4K options than there are QLED 4K, QLED’s dwindling novelty and production costs are contributing to a healthy selection of budget-friendly QLED models, too. This wasn’t the case in 2017, but on a normal day, you can find a decent 55-inch QLED near the $500 mark.

Brand is a huge factor in pricing. Smaller players like Insignia, Toshiba, and TCL are on the lower end (all make solid budget options with the Fire TV platform built in, BTW) while bigger powerhouses like LG, Samsung, and Sony are typically more expensive. However, even the last three brands offer some super fairly-priced entry-level TVs, made even cheaper during big sale events like Prime Day.

You can find pretty amazing TV deals at any point in the year, but the most intense discounts happen during Black Friday and throughout the holiday season. Prime Day is a great time to find TVs on sale as well, though the best deals typically come from retailers like Best Buy trying to compete with Amazon.

Outside of shopping events like these, the cyclical nature of yearly TV releases also triggers TV deals at one other big time of year: spring. Models for the upcoming year are usually announced and/or released in January, and retailers make room by clearing out old stock through heavy discounts.
